RODNEY BAY This expansive bay is named after Admiral Rodney who commanded the British fleet during the days of Caribbean conflict with the French. This area features several of the finest beaches on the island, historic Pigeon Island and Fort Rodney, the fishing village of Gros Islet home of the famous Friday jumpup, and the Rodney Bay marina. Recently labeled the "Rodney Bay Village", nightlife in the area is one of the best on the island, with several new restaurants and bars open to the public in the evening, the area has also hosted St. Lucia Jazz Festival events in 2004.
